FAQS

  • What should I wear/bring to class?

For Intro to Pole and Beginner Pole: wear leggings, socks, knee pads, and a sports bra and comfortable top. A cute outfit you feel confident in will help you get in the right mindset to start unleashing the goddess inside you! Bring a water bottle. No jewelry or lotions/lubricants on your skin on the day of your class.

For Intro to Intermediate, Intermediate, and Advanced Pole: shorts, and a sports bra or pole clothes are recommended. A tank top is optional but the more exposed skin you have, the better you will stick to the pole, especially in intermediate and advanced classes. Dry skin is best, please do not wear lotions and lubricants on the day of your class as these leave a film on the pole and create a slipping/fall hazard for you and students using the pole after you. Grip aides are recommended but not tack in a spray bottle as this damages the finish on our poles. Jewelry must be removed, bring water!

For Heels Pole: Pleaser heels or a similar brand are recommended but not required. You may dance in cute socks on your tiptoes instead. While pleasers seem intimidating to walk in, the platform to heel ratio is similar to a street heel, and the insole is cushioned for additional comfort. Street heels are not recommended. Pleasers are similar to a pointe shoe, there is a toe swivel designed to help you move and spin around the pole smoothly and seamlessly. Wear leggings and knee pads, a sports bra and cute tank top. If your instructor plans climbs in the choreography, she will let you know so you can wear an athletic skirt or shorts to class. Pole grip might be needed, so bring it just in case, don’t forget your water bottle!

For Aerial Hoop: wear leggings, a sports bra, a comfortable top, and socks. Sometimes we invert and hang upside down, if you are not comfortable with a bare midriff, wear a tighter fitting top or leotard/bodysuit. Gloves are not recommended as they inhibit the build up of much needed calluses and grip strength. No jewelry, bring your water bottle.

For Aerial Silks/Hammock: leggings, socks, sports bra, and a comfortable top with short or long sleeves is recommended to help prevent silk burn in the underarm area. Rings, necklaces, or jewelry of any kind are not allowed as there is a possibility of getting caught on the fabric, which is dangerous for you and damaging to the silks.

For both Belly Dance classes: comfortable workout clothes of any kind is fine. Tighter fitting tank tops help you be able to see your torso a little bit better, you may dance in socks or bare feet. Belly belts are not required but you may bring one if you have one.

For Hula Hoop: hula hoops are provided but if you wish to bring your own, you may do so. Our instructor has a variety of weights and diameters to suit your specific body type. Different skills may require different weights and sizes of hula hoops, so try different ones if you have trouble with a certain skill. Don’t forget your water bottle.

For Flexibility, Yoga, Strength & Conditioning, Mobility & Stretch, and Meditation: the studio provides yoga mats and blankets, and additional equipment needed, but you may bring your own mat if you prefer. Bring a water bottle. Barre socks are optional.

  • Do I need to have upper body strength to be able to pole dance or attend aerial classes?

Absolutely not! Our progressive program is designed to help you start with little to no upper body strength, and no prior experience. Each class, you will work on conditioning and flexibility to help you start building up the strength needed for poses in each apparatus. We will always accommodate moves and instruction to fit each person’s level. Grace comes with strength, so even if you don’t feel graceful at first, overtime, you will be amazed at how much more you can do with consistency. We recommend filming yourself at the end of each class to track your progress. Complimentary classes like flexibility, mobility, yoga, and strength and conditioning help you improve your aerial skills more efficiently.

  • Is there a weight or age limit?

Our apparatuses and our rig is designed to hold all shapes and sizes! Our rig is designed to hold several hundred pounds. Additionally, we have aerial hoops in different diameters to accommodate different heights. Our students range from children to senior citizens. It is never too late to begin your aerial journey! We are a body positive and size inclusive studio!

  • Do I have to book online or can I drop in?

While we do drop ins, reserving your spot online is recommended. When you schedule your classes ahead of time, you also have the opportunity to fill out waivers and see if your class is full before coming to the studio. During the summer months, classes may be canceled due to low attendance, so prebooking is recommended.

  • Do I have to sign up for a membership or can I pay as I go?

No, you may absolutely pay the drop in rate each time! While we do offer a monthly unlimited membership, there is no contract. You will receive a reminder email 7 days prior to your renewal date to allow plenty of time for you to cancel. We also offer class packs to help save you money on the drop in rate. These class packs don’t expire for 90 days, allowing you more time to attend your classes. If you feel like you might attend more than 12 classes/month, the unlimited membership might be for you! Don’t forget your rest days, these are essential for overuse and injury prevention.

  • Whats the difference between an aerial and non aerial class pack?

Non aerial class packs cover classes not on an apparatus. These include, flexibility, strength & conditioning, mobility & stretch, belly dance, yoga, hula hoop, meditation and open studio, since this is practice time without instruction. Aerial class packs cover ALL classes, those listed above and additionally, all pole, hoop, and silks classes.
